Visions of Queerness and Cowboy Boots

Chloe Chiasson loves Texas. The artist feels drawn back to her hometown of Port Neches, but she’s never seen many openly queer people like herself there. So Chiasson paints lesbians into the memories of her teenage years. Her figures drink Shiner beer, caress one another in a pickup truck, and kiss in cowboys boots. Chiasson paints the scenes she wants to see in the place she loves.
